In my work as a professional consultant
to young singers, I have come
across some of your beautiful photos. I'm a great fan and intend
to have
you do my next set of headshots! One client came to me having
recently
had her photos done. She is a beautiful girl but it was not necessarily
reflected in her total package, and she was having a hard time
getting
work in the "glamour Fach" she sings. She is also plus-sized,
and in
this day and age it can be a harder sell. I had her put your photo
on
her resume, bio, and all other materials. She looks like a movie
star.
Sure enough, your photo helped her begin to get the attention
her voice
and talent deserve!

Hi Devon,
I just wanted to thank you again for my headshots. I have gotten a great response, everbody loves and raves about them. Literally the first two shots I sent out I landed a commercial print agent and a part in a new film. More to come...
Thank you

Your work is going all over the world, I got an email back from
France, and
I sent them to Egypt and other coutries to be published in Armenian
newspapers advertising my CD. Your photos are going to open doors

Dear Devon,
Hi!! How are you? I hope that things are going very well. I saw the March issue of Classical Singer...all my friends think I look like a star!!! Even acquaintances have approached me to tell me how great the photos came out. The really nice thing is that I don't look so made up that the photos don't look like me. I still can't get over the amazing transformation you made of me, and am ever thankful for all the helpful tips I came away with. You've converted me...I'm a MAC / Cass girl...my husband thanks you, too!!!
Thank you again, so very much, and I wish you all the best always!!!
Fondly, Michelle

Devon Cass is AMAZING!
:)
I cannot say enough about
Devon Cass and his work. It is AMAZING! I had hundreds of WONDERFUL
shots to choose from...very tough decisions! And he's so nice,
easy to work with, and fun! That's so important when having headshots
done.
Email me and I'd be happy to share
a couple of pics. (I'll even show my horrid old headshot so you
can see the wonders he works!!!)

Almost two years ago I had gastric
bypass and the doctor told me that it might be wise to buy a wig
because there was a good chance I would lose some of my hair and
so I did. I started with a blonde wig and progressed to a red
one, which I positively adore, and even have an outrageous blue
wig to match a favorite blue fox stole that I now wear on stage.
Life is about having fun and sharing the joy you have with others.
Especially in show business we entertainers like to transport
our audiences to a place of pleasure. Now at 59 years of age I
have finally come full circle and realize I don't have to hide
behind a navy blue dress, a quiet corner of a room or a pale face
with little lipstick. The world is full of vibrant colors and they
start on your insides and work their way out side so one can be
a beacon of light for the rest of the world.
So I invite everyone to believe in what Devon says ...."You
are all beautiful just TRUST ME DARLING!!!"

Thanks so much - I really love
the pictures and you made it incredibly difficult for me to choose.
Working with you was so much fun, too. I've already recommended
you to several people!

Devon was a true professional from
the first second I walked through the door. I never felt worried
or even concerned about the process. He even let me use his personal
bathroom to shave TWICE. The way he takes pictures is so relaxed
that I felt free to experiment, and yet was sure that there were
going to be some solid shots... and I was right. Hundreds of beautiful
color prints that it took me literally hours to narrow down to
the few that I was going to use. He was nothing but the perfect
blend of friendly and professional.

Dear Devon:
It's hard to find the right words to describe how truly gifted
and talented you are!
I first saw Devon's work on Debbie
Voigt's website and was very impressed, but it was my conversation
with him at the Classical Singer Convention in May of 2005 that
convinced me I needed to have him do my head shots. There were
"before" and "after" shots of singers I have
worked with on display at the convention, and I was totally amazed
at what he had done for people I knew.
The only way to describe my photo shoot with Devon is this: an
amazing experience. It was great fun and relaxed, yet at the same
time, very professional. He is a total genius with makeup and
lighting (especially for us voluptuous ladies!), and even though
I am far from a size 8, he helped me look and feel absolutely
gorgeous, yet still be myself. Friends and family have been completely
floored by the pics I've e-mailed, and it has been a real boost
to my self-esteem to realize that I can look so terrific!
Thank you, thank you, Devon, from the bottom of my heart for helping
me look so great and bringing out my inner diva - you are the
best!!!!
Thank you again for such a great experience - you are truly an
amazing and gifted artist, and I hope we get to work together
again in the future. (I'm still hoping to win the Mega Millions
and hire you!)
Warmest regards,
Traci

Devon did my photos four
years ago and still everyone comments on how gorgeous they are.
Everyone I know who has gone to him (and they are legion) has
ended up with more wonderful photos than they could use. Instead
of ending up with 3-4 photos you like - you'll have closer to
a dozen really great shots from which to choose.
If you e me privately I'll be happy to show you.

Devon Cass is indeed extremely talented,
and I recommend him highly. He does hair and makeup himself, which
is nice. My favorite new photo came just in time for a review
in Gramophone. (Oct, 2004, p. A17, check it out:))...
good luck!

Response to Headshot question (X-Post from NY Forum)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just completed a shoot with Devon Cass, and highly recommend
him. He is very reasonable, and does hair and makeup himself (and
ooohhhhh, is he good!!). We had a good time, and he took some
INCREDIBLE shots! He shoots digital, which means you get to see
some of the pictures right off the bat. I get proofs next week,
and can't wait! He's creative and fun, and the proof is in the
pictures (all puns intended).

Response to cost
I know someone who had her
shots done with Kohler recently (within the last 12 months) and
she paid about 1000 for the sitting (plus makeup and hair) and
then paid through the nose for each 8x10...then had to pay another
company to reproduce. I think she ended up paying somewhere around
1650 before getting shots reproduced....Anyhow, it's not cheap.
That being said, she ended up with very beautiful shots, and she
will be able to use them for a long time. When I went to Devon
Cass, I ended up paying about 1000 in the end, which included
everything, even reproductions. And I also got many great shots,
and will use them for years.
Devon Cass is Absolutely
Wonderful!!!

I really have no words!
I just had a marvelous photo shoot with Devon this week - and
I think he is extremely talented and works efficiently in a short
time. I've had photo shoots with several other well-known photographers
who work for big modeling agencies, in Europe, and Devon is definitely
the best! As far as his prices are concerned, they are extremely
reasonable - as the going rate for headshots are $1000 and above.
I highly recommend Devon - and he is also a very nice person.
I can't tell you ENOUGH how you are...personal email sent,

Its 1:15 in the morning and I am looking at my photos and how
talented you are and how you have boosted by self-esteem. Honestly,
I am close to crying because your talent is a true diamond in
the rough!!
If only I had met you 10- years ago! I love your energy, your
creative eye and your ability to bring out the very best in me.
I knew it was there (somewhere). Words can't explain!
You are amazing!
G'night

You will be getting more than your money's worth from Devon. When
he did my photos I had at least two dozen great shots I could
have used. Five years later - I still love them and get compliments
on them all the time.LD

Response to I've worked with both Devon Cass & Lisa Kohler this season
I must say that my headshots and my color were all done from digital
but they looked amazing with or without color. He has a great
way to do the touchup work digitally and I have never seen anything
like it with ANY of the publicity shots I have had done with any
other photographer.
Devon ROCKS - his pictures always manage to capture the person in the picture. What I didn't like about Lisa Kohler, and why I didn't go with her, is because I didn't see any variation of the people in the pictures. The lighting is all very similar and the eyes always pop out and the angles were all pretty much predictable. Devon managed to capture MY diva self - confident, poised and dramatic! At the same time I still look approachable and easy going. His prices were totally reasonable for what I got. Lisa's fees have sky-rocketed...!

Response to How much is she charging?
in December she was charging $1400 as a base. makeup and extra's
(which I don't even remember - like, 1 print, proofs, etc; etc;)
weren't included.
Devon was $1500 for both my husband and me, and included everything (touch up, disc, make up, and about 1000 shots - and I had too many good ones to choose from!)
Good luck wherever you decide to go.
I recently had my headshots taken by Devon Cass.... March 30, 2005 at 6:34pm
Kathy Geary
I saw his ads in the magazine from
his sessions with Deborah Voigt. I had a headshot but it was over
12 yrs old and I was a little nervous about getting a new one.
My teacher said it was most important to meet the photographer
and see if I had any rapport with them. Looking at the portfolio
is good, but it's not as important and meeting them. So I interviewed
a couple of people and decided that Devon was the one. He was
creative and very high energy about his work. So I had a session
with him where he not only took the photos, with a 6 mega pixel
Cannon digital camera, but he did fantastic make-up and hair.
I was able to see how the session was going because I could instantly
look at the photos. Amazing. He took around 400 images and I got
the proofs on a CD containing a low-res version of every image.
Honestly, I have never felt so beautiful. There are over 20 images
I felt were good candidates for my professional use.
This man is fabulous at what he does and pays such close attention
to the details. The versions I got for actual prints were touched
up, but they really did look like me. I felt like I could walk
into a room and be instantly recognizable from the photograph.
So check out his work, I was thrilled!

I had my shots done by Devon in September of 2003. I, too, never felt more beautiful. I learned a lot about makeup when I was in the chair - he showed me some invaluable tricks about eye liner, eyelashes, and lip gloss - seriously!
One thing to keep in mind is that if your photo is knock out- wow; one is obligated to look that good when you show up at the door - this at times can be daunting for me, as I am a no frills kinda girl, but, in the spirit of dress up and put your best foot, face and coif forward, I revel in being a girl !Go, enjoy, have fun - and there is a great coffee shop across the street from his place - take in the neighborhood.

I'm so glad to hear you were satisfied; he's on my list for my next headshots. I saw his work on a web search and was amazed. However, some others on nfcs thought he made everybody look like a drag queen (I didn't, I thought it was gorgeous work). I'm delighted to know that what you ended up with were photos that still look like YOU just more glam! Thanks, B

I had planned to use Dave
Cross, whose work I like, but Devon had a more affordable package
AND includes the makeup in the session price.
My results are amazing. He also has experience with opera singers.
Deborah Voigt still uses the session photos he did for her recently.
